3 Fixes to Common Printer Problems

Printers are pretty incredible machines, and without them, our daily lives in the office would be much more challenging. But there are the occasions—and maybe sometimes they're frequent occasions—when your office printer is the one making your life difficult, not easier. Luckily, most of the time, the problems are easy to fix and prevent. If your printer has a more serious issue, it may be time for a new machine. Here are a few tricks of the trade to get your printer up and running.

Problem #1: My Printer Won't Print

The classic problem. You hit "print," saunter over to the machine, and then you find that your printer is sitting idle. If you're not getting an error message that makes it easier to diagnose the issue, start going through troubleshooting.

    1. Is your printer still connected to Wi-Fi?
    2. Is your printer driver and software updated and installed correctly?

If all else fails, call your trusted local printer technician.

Problem #2: Is My Printer Really Out of Ink...?

Sometimes it might seem like your printer is lying to you—you know, when it says you're out of ink, but you can still print well. Sometimes you get a low-ink warning far before you're near critical ink levels. Make sure you have a few cartridges on hand and print until you can print no more.

Problem #3: My Printer and My Mobile Device Won't Play Nice Together

Mobile printing is practically a necessity in today's modern work environment, so when it's not working, productivity comes to a halt. Most of today's Wi-Fi enabled printers support Apple's AirPrint for iOS devices. If you're working with an Android or another type of mobile device, there are apps that work well for mobile printing.

If your printer is still giving you grief, give us a call. We can help you diagnose the problem or find a new printer.
