    Paperless? Try Less Paper

mation_081916.jpgAs early as ten or so years ago, people were claiming that the time of paper was over. These individuals argued that it was time to go entirely paperless, relying on digital solutions instead. But now here we are, in 2016, still probably relying on paper.

The fact of the matter is, it isn't easy to leave behind a centuries-old technology (paper) in a few years. And yet, it's certainly time to start moving away from paper incrementally. Paper is a significant drain on our natural resources, and it's certainly overused in today's offices. Did you know that the average office worker in the United States uses up around 700 pounds of paper a year? That's an incredible amount of paper, especially considering that much of it is wasted.

    Paperless or Less Paper?

Too many companies are stuck in an unproductive limbo. They acknowledge that it's nearly impossible for them to go completely paperless, and as a result, they don't change their paper usage at all. There has to be a balance. You may not go completely paperless in your organization, but it's certainly possible to begin using less paper. Here are a few tips to get you started.

    • Invest in the right software: Many printers and printing companies today offer software that can help you track and reduce the amount of paper your company uses. With this software and printer standardization, you could see a significant reduction in your paper usage almost immediately.
    • Implement document management: One of the most effective ways to make a slash in your paper usage is to implement a digital solution instead. Document management is the answer to yesteryear's filing cabinets filled with paper records.
